Yes. The 1:1 preset creates a perfect square, which is the standard format for profile pictures and square social media posts. The crop is taken from the center of your image at the largest possible size for that ratio, so centered subjects work best with this preset.

Use 16:9 for video thumbnails and wide covers, 9:16 for vertical stories and short-form video covers, and 4:3 for classic photos and slides. Choosing the right aspect ratio before uploading prevents platforms from cutting off important parts of your image with their own automatic cropping.

This cropper takes the largest centered crop at your chosen ratio, so subjects near the edges can fall outside the frame. If your subject sits off-center, use a wider ratio, or first pad and reframe the photo in an editor. Checking the source composition before cropping avoids surprises.

Custom pixel values only apply when the Custom ratio is selected; the preset ratios ignore those fields completely. Switch the aspect ratio setting to Custom, then enter your width and height. If the values are larger than the original image, the crop is limited to what the source contains.

Crop first to fix the composition and aspect ratio, then resize to reach exact final pixel dimensions. This order keeps faces and subjects framed correctly and avoids stretching. Both steps run in your browser, and cropping only trims pixels away, so the remaining area keeps its original quality.
